New details released during a 4 o'clock news conference contradict Lam Luong's latest version of the truth. His lawyer says Luong was coerced into making a confession and that he did not throw the kids off the bridge. Instead, Luong claims he gave the children to a woman named "Kim" and that she never brought them back.
But Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran says they have witnesses who put Luong on the Dauphin Island Bridge with his four children Monday morning. Another witness, who bought gas for Luong when he left Dauphin Island later that morning, says there were no kids in the car at that time.
In regards to "Kim," Cochran says investigators have questioned individuals in Mississippi and as far away as New Jersey. They determined neither person played any role in the case.
During today's search, Paul Stewart with the Sheriff's Flotilla, says the new sonar equipment "worked great." They saw some things on the bottom of Mobile Bay that divers will check out tomorrow. Strong currents this afternoon prevented divers from going back down for a 5th time today.
During today's dives, search crews shut down the intercoastal canal for about four hours.
