Joe Kulakowski had a chance to speak with his client for about an hour Thursday.
He said during that conversation, Luong told him the four missing children are alive and are with a woman named Kim.
Kulakowski said he was told that investigators should concentrate their search efforts in the Asian fishing communities of the bayou and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
He said his client was forced into saying he killed his kids.
"Well, it just got to a point where they weren't satisfied with anything he was going to say and he just came up with something to get them to stop interrogating him," said Lam Luong's Attorney Joe Kulakowski.
Kulakowski says he's already received a lot of phone calls and leads which he believes will eventually bring the children home safely.
Friday afternoon, Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran said they have questioned people in Mississippi and New Jersey and found nothing that supports Luong's story.
