Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson says Lam Luong of Irvington is charged with capital murder in the deaths of his four children. A press conference was held tonight at the Bayou La Batre Police Station tonight at 8:30 p.m. Here are the names and ages of the children involved: Ryan Phan - 3 years old; Hannah Luong - 2 years old; Lindsey Luong - 1 year old; Danny Luong - 4 months old.
D.A. Tyson says investigation started Monday as a missing persons case and then became serious tonight at 5:00 p.m. Authorities are not saying how the children may have been killed. Search crews have been searching the waters between the Daphin Island Bridge and Cedar Point. They have referred to it as a recovery mission. Authorities are asking if anyone saw anything suspicious Monday around the waters or along Highway 193 to please call authorities.
Lam Luong was being held at the Bayou La Batre Police Department but was taken to Springhill Medical Center for drug tests. Authorities say Luong has a history of drug arrests in Biloxi.
D.A. Tyson did tell News 5 that investigators have talked with the mother and that she is not involved in the case. Bayou La Batre Police, Dauphin Island Police, and the Mobile County Sheriff's Office are involved in the search and investigation.
The search was called off for the night, but will resume at 6:30 in the morning. More agencies and a helicopter will be used in Wednesday's search.
