Spears' Standoff, Hospitalized

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Britney Spears has been taken from her Los Angeles home in an ambulance following a dispute over the custody of her children.

The 26-year-old singer was lifted onto a gurney and into an ambulance after she turned over her two young children to ex-husband Kevin Federline. It's unclear where she was being taken.

Photographers pointed their cameras into the back of the ambulance and snapped pictures as it drove away.

Police say Spears was under the influence of an unknown substance.

Spears is fighting with Federline over the custody of their sons, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James. Earlier yesterday, she showed up late for a deposition in the legal battle.

On Wednesday, Spears' lawyers filed a motion to quit the case because of a "breakdown" in communication with their client.
