The on-ramp to eastbound Interstate 10 from Dauphin Island Parkway was closed for several hours overnight. Department of Transportation officials were called out to examine the damage to the ramp railing after a car crashed into the barrier shortly after midnight. A section of the railing was knocked down. The driver of the car was not seriously injured and refused medical treatment on the scene of the accident.
Crews closed the ramp to traffic while inspectors surveyed the damage. Orange traffic cones were placed in front of the section of damaged railing. The ramp was reopened to traffic shortly after 2am.
DOT officials say the on-ramp railing will be repaired sometime Wednesday. It will be closed while the repair work is done.
