The playground is empty and the doors are locked at A-J's Pre-K Learning Center on Langley Avenue in Pensacola. The Florida Department of Children and Family Services shut down the facility last night, when the owner of the daycare, Albert McCreary, was arrested on sex charges involving a minor. Investigators in Pensacola charged McCreary with performing a leud and lascivious act on a child.
McCreary was also charged with fraud. Bond on both charges has been set at 55-thousand dollars. Detectives say the alleged crime happened in 2004 at old daycare McCreary used to operate on Born Drive. That facility is now operated by another company. Parents we spoke to say they're concerned about the safety and security of daycare centers.
"It's kind of scary," says Stacey Blackmon. "It's heart-breaking because you think your children will be safe at the daycare they go to."
Investigators say there could be more than one victim. Detectives are looking into other allegations of sexual misconduct at the daycare.
