Investigators say a night of partying at the Flora-Bama Lounge ended badly for an Elberta police officer. Officer Robby Morrow was arrested Sunday morning and charged with D.U.I.
"A subject left the bar and they felt he had too much to drink so they call us," says Asst. Chief Greg Duck with the Orange Beach Police Department. "One of our officers conducted a traffic stop and gave him a field sobriety test."
Duck says Morrow failed the sobriety test and was booked into the city jail.
"Nobody is above the law," says Duck.
Elberta Police Chief Gary Peaden says Morrow resigned from the police force this week. Peaden says Morrow was a good officer and did a lot to help the community.
"It's a sad day for Elberta and for the entire law enforcement community," says Peaden.
This isn't the first time Morrow has had a run-in with the law while working in law enforcement. In 2004, Morrow was charged with criminal trespassing while working as an officer with the Foley Police Department. Morrow was not convicted in that case but resigned from the force after his arrest.
