Joey Jones is coming home. The University of South Alabama has hired the former Murphy High School and the Univerisity of Alabama standout to become the 1st head football coach at USA.
He was offered the job Wednesday and accepted it today. He'll be introduced at press conference Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Center.
Jones has coached just one season of college football at Birmingham-Southern. He had a 121 and 11 record in 10 seasons at Mountain Brook High School. After graduating from Murphy, he was recruited to Alabama by Paul "Bear" Bryant. Following his great career as a college wide recever, he went on to play in the NFL and USFL.
