WASHINGTON (AP) - Rep. Jo Bonner of Mobile has been named to the
House Appropriations Committee, giving Alabama even more clout on
the panel that writes spending bills in Congress and steers money
to local projects.
Bonner, a Republican, got the nod for the vacant seat in
competition with several colleagues from other states. He becomes
the third Alabama lawmaker to sit on the influential committee,
along with Reps. Bud Cramer and Robert Aderholt. In addition, Sen.
Richard Shelby is a senior member of the Senate Appropriations
Committee.
