Here at News 5 This Morning, we're always looking for great taste-testing opportunities for Bill, Jennifer and John. Around Christmas it was the bottled soda in special Hannukah and Christmas flavors. So, for this Valentine's Day, I wanted to come up with something new and different. After being inspired by an ad for the Bacon Bar (a slice of cooked bacon dipped in chocolate) and a story on chocolate covered jalapeno peppers, I got my idea. I decided to make the items for the News 5 This Morning team to try on-air.
There is no real recipe for the treats.
Chocolate Covered Bacon
1 lb. bacon (we used thick sliced bacon)
1 package dark or milk chocolate, melted
Cook the bacon until crispy. Thick sliced bacon works best as it will hold the weight of the chocolate better. Drain cooked bacon really well and allow to cool.
Cut bacon into bite-sized pieces, if desired.
Melt your chocolate according to package instructions. Dip bacon pieces into chocolate to coat and place on cooling rack or wax paper. Allow chocolate to harden and enjoy.
Chocolate Covered Jalapeno Peppers
Jalapeno Peppers
1 package dark or milk chocolate, melted
Clean jalapeno peppers. Melt chocolate according to package instructions. Dip peppers in melted chocolate to coat and place on cooling rack or wax paper. Allow chocolate to harden and enjoy.
Chocolate Covered Potato Chips
Potato Chips (the thicker cut, the better)
1 package dark or milk chocolate, melted
Dip potato chips in melted chocolate. Place on cooling rack or wax paper. Allow chocolate to harden and enjoy.
