Mobile Police have arrested a man who confessed to stabbing his wife. While News 5's cameras were rolling, the husband said "Tell everybody I'm sorry. I didn't mean to kill her. I really love her. So I apologize to everybody."
Police say Cullen Phillips, Jr. got into a shouting match with his wife around 7 o'clock this morning at their home on Jesse Street in Trinity Gardens. The argument ended when police say Cullen grabbed a knife and started stabbing his wife Bertha in front of children waiting for the school bus.
Betha was pronounced dead at the scene. Cullen was gone when police got there. Friends of the couple convinced Cullen to turn himself in.
Cullen is charged with murder.
