A Baldwin County Judge denied bond for the man accused of killing Spanish Fort gas station owner Bobby Wilson.
Eric Buzbee was wearing a bullet proof vest and shackles when he was escorted into the Bay Minette courtroom. News 5's Pat Peterson, who was in the courtroom, says Buzbee showed no emotion during the hearing. He did look back into the crowd several times to make eye contact with his family.
Buzbee turned himself into Spanish Fort Police around 8:30 last night after his attorney, John Beck, learned a grand jury indicted Buzbee on two counts of capital murder. Beck still claims they’ve got the wrong guy.
District Attorney Judy Newcomb says Buzbee beat and robbed Wilson at his service station August 11th. Wilson died three days after Christmas.
During today's hearing, Newcomb spoke to Buzbee's grandfather and told him "I'm sorry about Eric."
Buzbee was first arrested on drug charges after police searched his mobile home September 21st. Since then he had been considered a "person of interest" in the Wilson murder.
The judge did grant Buzbee a $7,500 bond on the drug charges. But he will not get out of jail unless he is eventually found not guilty of capital murder.
