“It's just sad that people can't have more respect for human lives than that,” says Jeannie Milne. She and her 10 children are cousins of shooting victim Jason Milne. It was an act of violence that made the holidays sad for the family. Jeannie says everyone she knew liked Jason.

“It's kind of scary because he was within their circle of friends a couple of my daughters knew him and it's scary because one of my kids could be walking down the road and something like this could happen,” says Jeannie. Young Elizabeth Milne was the same age as her cousin.

“I was upset and angry because somebody took his life and it's just not right and it's scary and he was my age and he had to die so young, says Elizabeth. The cousins say the news took them by surprise.
