SUMMERDALE, Ala. (AP) - Summerdale's municipal judge and
prosecutor will step aside from handling the drunken-driving case
against former Baldwin County district attorney David Whetstone.
Judge Daniel Robert Stankoski Jr. and Mitzi Johnson-Theodoro
cited their personal and professional relationships with Whetstone.
Stankoski will work with Summerdale to seek his replacement.
Whetstone was charged with driving under the influence Friday
night.
The court clerk hadn't received the paperwork on the case
Tuesday, but said Whetstone would likely have a February court
date.
Whetstone believed he had a blood-alcohol content of either .10
or .13 after spending three hours drinking at a Christmas party.
Police Chief Dwain Riebeling said the figures were "about
right," but refused to elaborate.
