Images of terror captured by surveillance cameras during four different bank robberies in Baldwin and Lowndes counties over the last four months.
"This is one of the most dangerous situations the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office and Baldwin County law enforcement has faced in several years in this county," says Sheriff Hoss Mack.
An arsenal of weapons and ammunition is now off the streets.
"All of these robberies were committed by individuals armed with multiple weapons some semi- automatic assault type weapons while the suspects were wearing protective body armour."
Baldwin County Sheriff Hoss Mack says it was these men who were responsible for the rash of robberies. Marcus Schaefer, J.D. Godwin and Greg Baber. A fourth man, Sidney Clark is still on the loose.
Three shotguns, five rifles including an AK-47 and several handguns were confiscated. It's firepower the sheriff's department doesn't usually face. "It was their intent to engage law enforcement if approached," says Mack.
All face robbery charges but more charges, involving the weapons and body armour, could be on the way according to District Attorney Judy Newcomb. "Wherever we can be most successful and keep these people off the streets the longest that's where we're going."
For months, Sheriff Mack says law enforcement held it's breath knowing another robbery could happen at any moment. Tonight they are all breathing a little easier.
