Vigor High School brought home a State Championship but their football players might not be able to bring home anything to show for it. You won't see players at the school wearing letterman jackets or state championship rings, that's because the principal says they can't afford them. In fact, he says most of the kids can't even afford basic needs, " we serve probably the poorest kids in the state,we're 86, 86 percent or above free and reduced lunch which means they live below the poverty level and it's not their fault, but, they just can't afford the luxury items that me and you would take for granted," said Vigor Principal William Smith. That's why the school is setting up the Vigor High School State Championship Fund to help kids buy those jackets and rings. The Vigor Coach says
they hope to get a jacket for the senior football players and a state championship ring for everyone on the team. If you would like to help out, you can send your donation to the school at 913 North Wilson Avenue, Prichard, Alabama 36610.
