Bobby Agerton and his wife enjoy Robertsdale quality of life and low crime rate, but what happened across the street from them Monday night has the couple a little worried.
"Scary," says Bobby. "We lock the house up every night anyway to make sure everything is locked but it's still kinda scary getting too close."
An argument between two men at a house on College Avenue ended violently. Investigators say the homeowner pulled a gun and shot the victim in the stomach. Police arrested Nicholas Ott and charged him with 1st degree assault.
"This is the first shooting we've had this year," says Sgt. Rex Bishop with the Robertsdale Police Department. "In fact, this is the first shooting we've had in the past three years."
On Tuesday, detectives searched a wooded area behind the crime scene hoping to find the gun used in the shooting. The weapon, however, hasn't been recovered.
The victim, Raymond Murphy, is in critical condition at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center.
