After they take on Utah in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, four Alabama players will head to Mobile for the Senior Bowl.

Quarterback John Parker Wilson, tight end Travis McCall, center Antoine Caldwell and safety Rashad Johnson have all accepted invitations to play in next the game January 24th at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Wilson owns 12 school records, including career passing yards (7,747), touchdown passes (46) and total yards (7,953). He was also a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Award, given annually to the nation’s top senior quarterback.

“It is a real honor to be invited to play in the Senior Bowl,” Wilson said. “It gives me a chance to play with the best seniors in the country while also providing an opportunity to be exposed to coaches and scouts in the NFL. It means even more because it is played in the state of Alabama and I get one more chance to play in front of our fans.”

Widely considered to be one of the best centers in the nation, Caldwell earned first team All-SEC honors this season. He was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, given annually to the nation’s best center.

McCall is second on the all-time games played list at Alabama (51). Known for his tremendous blocking skills, McCall has helped the Tide roll up nearly 200 yards per game on the ground. As a receiver he caught seven passes for 52 yards.

Johnson has five interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. Three of those picks in the Tide’s overtime win against LSU, which tied an Alabama single game record. Johnson is second on the team in tackles with 82.

“It is a tremendous opportunity to go down to Mobile and have a chance to show the NFL what I am capable of,” Johnson said. “I have always dreamed of playing in the NFL and the Senior Bowl is an entire week of being able to showcase your skills to scouts and coaches. Plus, it is another chance to play in front of our great fans one more time.”

Wilson, McCall, Caldwell and Johnson join West Virginia QB Pat White of Daphne who accepted an invitation last week.
