LINCOLN, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's Honda plant will manufacture
fewer vehicles next year.
The Japanese automaker announced today (Friday) that it will cut
production at seven of its assembly plants in the U.S., Canada and
Mexico because of lower demand.
Honda spokesman Ed Miller said production will be cut by 18,000
vehicles at its plant in Lincoln, Ala.
The company already has cut production by 56,000 units this
fiscal year.
Honda and other foreign automakers have not been immune to the
collapse in car demand in the U.S. Honda reported its sales fell 32
percent in November.
Miller said no layoffs will result from the cuts. Employees at
the plants will be given other tasks or can take paid or unpaid
vacation time
