Foley Cops Save Christmas

Burglars smash through glass window at a Foley business, steal thousands of dollars worth of merchandise...but are soon caught by police

Bobby Thompson's week got off to a shaky start. The Foley man's business was burglarized earlier this week.

"It was like somebody just totally came in and violated our home," says Thompson. "We practically live here at the business and when we saw our front window broken, it was devastating."

Thompson and his wife own Swatter's, a sports complex and merchandise store near the Foley Beach Express. Thompson says the burglary threatened to crush their important, Christmas retail shopping season.

But Thompson can rest a little easier tonight. Investigators recovered more than 25-hundred dollars worth of merchandise, including a 400 dollar baseball bat.

"The merchandise looks okay. If not, we'll have some kind of a theft sale," says Thompson.

Detectives arrested Kenneth Brink and Cory Allmon. The men have been charged with burglary. Police say the suspects used police scanners and listening devices to elude police...obviously, it didn't work. Investigators also say Brink and Allmon could be linked to several other burglaries in South Baldwin County.

"Thank God the Foley Police Department was out there doing their job," says Thompson. "It's been a great thing they were able to get all the stuff back."
