When Earl Caudell came home the other day something strange was going on.
"When I came in my driveway that sealer had been put on my driveway. They had my driveway roped off and I couldn't get in it."
Inside, something even stranger. His wife was missing. "I come in here and the doors all standing open. I hollered for Marie and didn't get an answer."
Alzheimer's patient, Marie Caudell was gone. Then a phone call from a bank and it all started to come together.
Police say Rusty Fisher from Mobile and Brandon Eicholtz from Theodore are scam artists. Cashing in on driveway repairs.
"I think they strategically waited for the husband to leave so as to be able to deal with the woman who is elderly and suffers from Alzheimer's," says Chief Gary Peaden.
Once inside the house, police say the two abducted Marie Caudell and took her to Visions Bank in Foley to cash a fifteen hundred dollar check on her account. But a teller got suspicious and started asking questions according to Chief Peaden. "She walked out to the car and asked the lady if she knew what was going on and she said 'No, I don't know why I'm here.'"
Fisher and Eicholtz are now charged with kidnapping, theft of property and drug charges.
Marie Caudell is home, unharmed and unaware of what could have happened.
