Some people in need may have to be turned away this Christmas due to the recession. The Bay Area Food Bank helps churches and non-profits feed the needy in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. But due to tough economic times, there is less food on their shelves, and more people to feed. The executive director says the local need in up 25% from last year, "the church pantry or the non-profit like, Salvation Army or Waterfront Rescue is having to maybe give a little less to each family or in some cases have to turn somebody away because they actually run out," said Bay Area Food Bank Executive Director, David Reaney. The Bay Area Food Bank needs food donations, funding, and volunteers. If you would like to help just call (251) 653-1617.
