PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - An Air Force investigator says two
inexperienced F-15 C Eagle pilots made fatal errors in February
training mission over the Gulf of Mexico.
1st Lt. Ali Jivanjee, 26, died when his jet collided with
another on Feb. 20. The pilot of the second jet ejected with minor
injuries.
In an investigative report released Monday, the Air Force said
both pilots lacked experience and missed essential training
missions when the Air Force grounded its F-15 for inspections
following another F-15 crash in Missouri in November.
The report said the combined loss of the fighter jets was more
than $83 million.
