A well known Mobile icon has died.
Charles Pollman, who's father founded Pollman's Bakery in 1918, passed away at the age of 88. He started working in the bakery at age 12 and was still known to come in several days a week, sometimes as early as 2:00 a.m.
The bakery is famous for its King Cakes which means you can't have Mardi Gras without the Pollman family. (click play to watch a story about Pollman's bakery and those famous King Cakes)
The wake will be held Wednesday night from 5:00-7:00 at Radney's Funeral Home (Dauphin Street). The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church (Sage Avenue). A reception will be held after the mass at the Sarto Center.
