Family and friends gathered today to remember Stephen Perret, a Citronelle man gunned down, one year ago.
A wreath was placed in memorial of the father of three, just steps away from where he was murdered August 17, 2007. Family, neighbors and Mobile County investigators bowed their heads in prayer as they hope for answers. "With the people coming out it shows the support of the community, our family, it shows the investigators that the people are really still interested and it helps to motive them to continue doing a good job,"Said Perret's father, Stephen Perret Sr.
Perret's body was found slumped in a truck on the side of the road on Dogwood Drive in Citronelle.
A week later, his boss and neighbor Mike Crocker claimed he was attacked and had his tongue cut out. But investigators believe Crocker lied about the attack and cut it out himself. Crocker had become the prime suspect in the case, but he bonded out of Metro Jail in Cctober of last year.
While noone has been charged for Perret's murder, family and friends hope to find information that will lead to an arrest.
"It really touched this whole community to the point of we want to find an answer for the Perret family 'cause it's not fair for them,"Said Kendell Iko, who lived down the street from Perret.
If you have any information that may help police, you are urged to call them or you can call CRIMESTOPPERS at 208-7000.
