Arrest Made In Home Depot Attack

Erich Brinkmeier is accused of punching a 78-year-old man inside the Home Depot in Pace, Florida.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office says 35-year-old Erich Brinkmeier turned himself in today (Thursday) and was charged with 1st degree battery on an elderly person.
The victim, Burdette Miller, told authorities that on June 14th of this year, he was hit by a man who claimed Miller hit his car in the parking lot.
Miller says he was simply looking for a parking spot during a thunderstorm and that he never hit another car.
According to Santa Rosa County Sheriff's investigators, they were able to identify a woman who was with Brinkmeirer that day at the Home Depot. They say the woman made a call from a phone inside the store and they were able to trace the call to a home in Pace.
It turns out, the call was made to a relative of Binkmeier's.
Authorities say Brinkmeier is active duty military and is currently stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. He was booked into the Escambia County jail in Pensacola.
