West Mobile Recycles

Curbside paper recycling is growing in West Mobile.

If you live in a handful of West Mobile neighborhoods, you may have seen yellow bins that are slightly smaller than their trash can counterparts.
These yellow carts are a part of a curbside paper recycling program.
The Newark Group and their subcontractors Gulf Coast Containers pick up the paper and cardboard materials once every two weeks.

The participation area for this program includes all the previous neighborhoods where paper recycling was collected on Tuesday. That is according to Charmayne Watson with Newark Group.
According to Watson, the neighborhoods include: Pinehurst, Inverness, Mary Knoll, Mary Knoll Place, Sugar Creek, Lexington, Woodlea, Hillcrest Crossing, Savannah Trace, and Lamp Lighter Woods.

If you have a green bin and live in those neighborhoods, Watson says to call her to trade out your old bin for a new cart.
Her number is 432-1000.

So far, there is no plan for full scale curbside recycling. Watson hopes one day that will happen.
