The MethText tipline set up by the Mobile County Sheriff's Office is getting results.

Monday morning, the deputies received a text about a possible meth lab at a motel in Tillmans Corner. Inside they found 30-year-old Mandy Bonner and 23-year-old Charles Smith making meth.

During a search of the motel room, deputies found: finished methamphetamine, scales, drug paraphernalia, items commonly used in the manufacture of meth and a handgun hidden in a tissue box.

In May, the Sheriff's Office took a technological step in the war on meth. They launched a text messaging service that allows tipsters to send anonymous information by texting the word “Meth” to 839863 (“TextMe”).
