PETA At It Again

PETA At It Again

First the animal rights group was inspired by the Mobile preacher accused of stuffing his wife's body in a freezer. Now PETA is using the decapitation of a man on a Greyhound bus to champion its causes.

Only PETA can turn decapitation into an animal rights issue.

The newspaper in Manitoba, Canada, where a Greyhound bus passenger was recently stabbed, decapitated and eaten, has decided not to run an ad from PETA that compares that gruesome murder to the slaughter of animals.

PETA wrote on their blog, "While it isn't every day that a human is violently attacked and eaten by another human, it's worth noting that it is the norm for many people not to give any thought to the fact that restaurants are serving flesh that comes from innocents who were minding their own business before someone came after them with a knife."

On Monday, News 5 told you about PETA's plan for a billboard in Mobile based on the freezer murder case. It would show a woman’s severed leg on a plate.

As we’ve reported, Anthony Hopkins is charged with murder. Mobile police believe he killed his wife almost four years ago. Court documents obtained in a News 5 investigation show that police were tipped off when one of Hopkins eight children reported she was being raped by her father. The daughter told police the mother was dead and in a freezer.

Lamar, which owns 90% of the billboards in Mobile, tells news 5 it would not put up the billboard.
