At least nine people were killed, and nine others were injured in a terrible single vehicle crash south of Phoenix.
The Department of Public Safety says a 1998 GMC SUV rolled over on the right side of State Route 79 near Florence, about 60 miles south of Phoenix.
At least eight air ambulance helicopters were on scene as firefighters removed people from the SUV.
Officer Carmen Figueroa says in a statement that 18 people were in the SUV that rolled on State Route 79, about 80
miles southeast of Phoenix, Thursday morning. The other nine occupants were injured.
Northbound lanes were shut down and debris covered the highway. Border Patrol agents are on the scene but it's not yet known if they were pursuing the vehicle.
DPS says the SUV was driving at a high rate of speed when it flipped over.
