Citizens Against Government Waste named Congressmen Norm Dicks (D-Washington) and Todd Tiahrt (R-Kansas) "Porkers of the Month" for threatening to reverse the $40 billion Air Force tanker contract which was awarded to Northrop Grumman/EADS.

Porker of the Month is a dubious honor given to lawmakers, government officials, and political candidates who have shown a blatant disregard for the interests of taxpayers.

Dicks and Tiahrt, who have ties to Boeing, have been very vocal, claiming the competition was not fair. “We’re going to try to eliminate the funding,” Dicks said to the The Wall Street Journal. He also called the decision “one of the worst … in modern history.”

Tiahrt told the Chicago Tribune “I don’t think the current contract can go forward.”

The Government Accountability Office has until June 19 to complete it's review of Boeing’s protest. If Northrop Grumman/EADS keeps the contract, the KC-45A will be built at Brookley Field in Mobile.

Citizens Against Government Waste is the nation’s largest nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government.
