Mobile County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a man for Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Endangerment and Resisting Arrest. Sgt. Jere Taylor with the Sheriff's Office says deputies stopped a vehicle, suspecting the driver of driving under the influence, on Grand Bay Wilmer Road near Old Pascagoula Road. As one of the deputies approached, the vehicle took off. After a short pursuit ending at Old Pascagoula Road and Kenny Lundy Road the deputies thought the driver had given up. Deputies again approached the vehicle but this time the driver pulled away and turned the vehicle towards the deputies. With the vehicle coming towards them Sgt. Taylor says the deputies fired at the vehicle attempting to disable it. The deputies were able to stop the vehicle which struck a stop sign in the process. According to Sgt. Taylor the driver was not hit by any of the bullets and is uninjured, the deputies are ok as well. The short four mile chase happened around 8:15 Thursday evening. The man's name has not been released at this time.
