STATE DEPARTMENT (AP) - Condoleezza Rice says she has definite
plans after her years as secretary of State, but they don't include
being vice president.
Rice says she has no aspirations to join John McCain on the
Republican presidential ticket this fall.
At a State Department news conference, Rice praised McCain, the
presumed GOP nominee, as "an extraordinary American" and
"outstanding leader." But she says she's looking forward to going
back to California -- and observing the campaign as a voter.
Rice had previously been a professor at Stanford University and
served as provost.
