SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) - Texas authorities continue removing
women and children from a religious compound where members of a
polygamist group have been living.
More than 400 children are now in temporary state custody. And a
spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Family and Protective
Services says more than 133 women are also being questioned. She
says this may be the largest operation of its kind in state
history.
Meanwhile, police have arrested one person as they continue
searching the rural compound that houses followers of jailed
polygamist leader Warren Jeffs. A number of men on the property are
not being allowed to leave.
Authorities have yet to find a 16-year-old girl who's alleged
she'd been abused and made the underage bride of an older man.
