Two people have been killed in traffic accidents in Mobile County since Monday. Car crashes are a big problem in Alabama and State officials want it to stop. That's why Governor Bob Riley named Wednesday, "Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day." But, the day got off to a dangerous start. From a three car collision on Azalea Road to a roll over accident on I-10 in Grand Bay. The good news: authorities said no one was killed in either of the crashes. News 5 talked with drivers who agree, it's dangerous out there. And, they would like to see safer roads. Alabama State Troopers hope that's what they'll get as they continue a campaign to cut down on traffic deaths in the State, "this is an ongoing project. Like I said, the take back our highways from a month ago was just the first step. We will continue to do that and continue to put troopers on the road until we can get a force strong enough to actually take back the highways to where we don't have to make a special effort, we can do it on a daily basis," said Lt. Lee Peacock with Alabama State Troopers. Alabama State Troopers and the State Department of Transportation said there are few simple things you can do to stay safe: stay focused, don't get distracted by things like a cell phone, or the radio, drive defensively, be courteous to other drivers, give them some room, slow down and of course wear your seat belt and don't drink and drive.
