New York Mayor Considers Presidential Run

»  Comments | Post a Comment

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and
other potential independent presidential candidates are to meet
with major party moderates next week to discuss a third-party bid
for the White House.
The event will feature a dozen prominent politicians and is
organized by former Democratic senator David Boren. He'll be
hosting the event next Monday at the University of Oklahoma, where
he's president.
Boren says "many of the major issues" aren't being addressed
in either the Democratic or Republican campaigns, chiefly how to
stop the partisan bickering paralyzing Washington. Boren hopes the
meeting serves as a form of "shock therapy" for the major party
candidates.
Bloomberg this year declared himself an independent after stints
in both the Republican and Democratic parties. He's denied any
interest in running for president, but has criticized the campaign
for what he sees as a partisan tone.
