BAY MINETTE, Ala. (AP) - Pet owners in Baldwin County are being
asked to be sure their dogs and cats have been vaccinated against
rabies.
Today's warning came after a dead raccoon found in the Bay
Minette area was diagnosed with the fatal disease.
The environmental supervisor with the Baldwin County Health
Department, Charlotte Plumb, says the dead raccoon was found on a
porch. She says health department officials are concerned that the
home owner's dogs could have been exposed to rabies.
State law requires that dogs and cats 3 months of age and older
be vaccinated for rabies annually.
