Thieves have stolen a part of Christmas for a Pensacola man and unless it is returned, ringing in the New Year is out of the question.
He has performed around the country and around the world. His instrument, 37 hand made bells. He's been playing for 15 years.
"It fascinated me and so I've been doing it since then," says musician Danny Lyons. But someone broke into his SUV over the weekend, "the only thing that I can find that was missing was the big case of bells and my billfold."
The thieves couldn't have known what they were taking. Lyons worse fear now is they will simply throw them out and he'll never see them again.
"Your instrument is very personal too you," says Lyons, "I've played these handbells many, many places around the country and around the world they've been a part of my life, yes, very personal."
Lyons is surrounded by music everyday, "Music has been important part of my life all of my life," he says. Now a big part of that life is missing and he just wants it back.
The bells were in a big black case similar to a suitcase. Lyons asks anyone who may have found them or have any information about it to contact him through his website, dannylyons.net, or the Escambia County Sheriff's office.
