(AP) A judge in Aruba today refused to
overrule the release of two suspects in the 2005 disappearance of
Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway.
The suspects, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, were released from jail
on Saturday after a judge ruled the evidence was not strong enough
to continue holding them on suspicion of involvement in Holloway's
death.
Prosecutors challenged the decision at a closed session
yesterday (Tuesday), but were rebuffed by the court.
The Kalpoe brothers were arrested for a third time in the case
on November 21st along with a third suspect, Joran van der Sloot,
who remains in jail. Prosecutors said the arrests were justified by
new evidence.
Holloway, of Mountain Brook, was last seen leaving a bar with
the three suspects on May 30th, 2005, hours before she was
scheduled to return home with fellow high school classmates
celebrating their graduation. She was 18 at the time.
All three have denied any role in her disappearance.
