Holiday Packages for the Troops Overseas

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Tuesday was the deadline to mail your Christmas packages to U.S. Troops in Afghanistan or Iraq.
A number of people at the post office off Cottage Hill Road in Mobile were trying to get their boxes and letters sent off in time.
Some said it's sad that their loved ones have to spend the holiday season overseas, so they hope the Christmas care packages will help lift their spirits.
Most people sent treats like cookies, cake, and brownies.
One woman said she's sending her grandson, who is serving in Iraq, pictures of her 80th birthday party.
"He'll be very surprised! In fact one of the pictures I have in there is of us talking to him long distance, so I think he'll get a kick out of that," laughed Doris Jones.
If you missed Tuesday's military mailing deadline, you can still mail your Christmas packages, it's just going to cost you more money.
