News 5 has obtained a copy of the police report on the murder of a Milton mother. Investigators say she was shot by her ex-boyfriend, in front of the couple's
3-year-old daughter.
Daniel Hodges is charged with murder and child neglect. Police say he drove to Tonya Sellers mobile home on Sunday morning and shot her in the neck. The child neglect charge comes in because police say the couple's 3-year-old daughter saw it happen and was then left to watch her mom die.
Concerned relatives went to Sellers' trailer because she did not answer the phone. Police say the little girl opened the door and said that her daddy had killer her mommy.
Police arrested Hodges at the tire shop where he works. They searched his truck and home, took a DNA swab and did a gun shot residue test on his hands. Hodges claims he knows nothing about the murder and that he had not been at Sellers' home in nearly a month.
But neighbors tell a different story. According to police, at least two neighbors heard a gunshot just after 3:00 a.m. and then saw someone look out the window of Sellers' trailer. A few minutes later, they said saw Hodges' truck drive off without the headlights on.
