Mobile County Public Schools are looking for ways to trim the fat after balancing the checkbook and finding they've got $8 million less than they thought.
It doesn't mean they're in the red but they're looking for ways to make sure there's a bigger balance next year.

Everyone agrees that administrative costs and overtime can be cut, but many are concerned about losing teachers.
School Board President Reverand Fleet Belle says he will never vote to cut teachers! "I contend that we have quite a few non-essential people that we can operate without. I believe with proper fiscal creativity we can get there but teachers? We can't afford to lose teachers."
Other cost cutting ideas are to minimize temporary services, legal costs, and local funded programs.
