A Mississippi school district is giving its students a reason to dance.
School officials in Moss Point recently purchased the popular Dance Dance Revolution video game for Orange Lake Elementary School.
The game is supposed to be an incentive for students to read more books.
Using the Accelerated Reader program, the students are required to read a book at their reading level and score an average score of 85% before playing the game.
Almost the entire school is participating.
"This combines their love of video games and so forth and we try to get them away from that when we want them to read but this combines the two so, it's on target," said Orange Lake Elementary School Librarian Mary Huntwork.
The game costs about $1,500.
A unit will be installed in all six elementary schools in the district.
