Renter Says She Will Not Return Home

The woman who lives in the house at the center of a shootout with a cop killer says she will not return to her home.

One week ago today, Lawrence Wallace stabbed Mobile Police Officer Steven Green in his neck before stealing his patrol car and leading police to a home on Daytona Drive.

Tanesha Bush, who rented the house, was not home when Wallace used her house to hide from police.   Wallace fired shots at police while hiding underneath Bush’s home.

Police returned the gunfire and also fired several rounds of tear gas into the house.  Wallace was killed in the standoff.

The Mobile Police Department gave Bush $1200 for a hotel and emergency expenses, according to Bush.   The owner of the house says the police department is paying for repairs.

There are at least nine bullet strikes on the back of the house and residue from the tear gas can still be seen in the grass.

Officer Green was laid to rest on Wednesday.   The funeral service for his killer is Saturday.
