Every certified law enforcement officer in Alabama will be required to attend a four-hour immigration law enforcement course.
The mandatory course teaches officers how to enforce the law- which requires officers to verify immigration status on traffic stops.
In Summerdale, the entire police department has already completed the course, which was first offered in November.
Police Chief Eddie Ingram says the training stressed the importance of avoiding "racial profiling."
Police officers in Baldwin County who haven't completed the course will be required to attend classes later this month and in early March.
