New Study Says Law Costs State $10.8 Billion

The University of Alabama's Samuel Addy estimates up to 80,000 jobs were vacated by illegal immigrants after the new law took effect.

The Department of Industrial Relations tells News 5 for the last few years they typically have around 8500 job postings at a time.

Right now, that number is 9757. Keep in mind this number does not include all job openings currently available in Alabama. The organization tells News 5 that some of the jobs vacated by illegal immigrants may not be advertised through an agency.

Opponents of the state's immigration law plan to rally in Montgomery once again on Tuesday.
