Charlie Sheen's publicist says the actor has entered rehab and is taking a break from the hit CBS show "Two and a Half Men."
Publicist Stan Rosenfield wrote in a statement Tuesday that Sheen has voluntarily entered rehab for an unspecified reason and is seeking privacy.
The move comes roughly two months after Sheen's arrest in Colorado after being accused of holding a knife to his wife's throat and threatening to kill her. Sheen faces a felony domestic violence charge in the case.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sheen's publicist sent the statement after he failed to show up for work on the sitcom Tuesday. Both CBS and Warner Bros. TV, which produces "Two and a Half Men," said Sheen going to rehab and requesting a leave of absence from the show came as a surprise to them.
Sheen is reportedly the highest paid actor on TV, making $800,000 an episode. "Two and a Half Men" was scheduled to shoot episode number 19 of 23 this week.
Sheen's wife, Brooke, is also in rehab for an undisclosed reason.
