A Toyota truck crashed into the showroom of a Toyota showroom in Baton Rouge Sunday morning. Officers say a customer tried to return his Toyota Tundra following a recent recall on the accelerator.
Police say the general manager offered to fix the truck and repeatedly offered to give the customer a loaner in the meantime. But the customer said no and left the building. That's when police say the man drove his Toyota into the side of the dealership, causing major damage to the truck and the building.
The customer claimed the his accelerator became stuck, causing the crash. The dealership says the truck was purchased last March and did not have any records of mechanical problems. Police say the accelerator was not stuck when they examined the truck after the crash, but they could not find any evidence that the crash was intentional and did not ticket the driver.
