JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Public Service Commission
has fined five out-of-state telemarketers a total of $105,000 for
allegedly violating the state's no-call list.
Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley said Thursday that
Vehicle Warranty Options of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., received a
$60,000 fine, the largest among the group of no-call list
violators.
Presley said TOSI of Brookfield, Wis., was fined $15,000 and
Franklin Mint of West Whitehead, Pa., Leads Direct Marketing of
Beverly Hills, Calif., and West Teleservices of San Antonio, Texas,
were all fined $10,000 each.
Commissioners have said they are in the process of cracking down
on violators of the state's no-call registry because new
telemarketers are entering the state without paying the $1,000
registration fee and the $50,000 surety bond required by state law.
