JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi casino gambling revenue
rebounded in January, increasing about $17 million over December.
Mississippi State Tax Commission records show revenue totaled
$221 million in January compared to $204.3 million in December.
Compared to January 2008, however, statewide revenues were down
$3 million.
Tax Commission records posted Tuesday show the Gulf Coast
casinos grossed $99.1 million in January, up from $95.4 million in
December but down about $7 million from January 2008.
Casinos along the Mississippi River took in $121.9 million in
January, up about $13 million from December and up $4 million from
January 2008.
Casino revenue, or "win," is the net amount of money won from
gamblers. It is not profit.
The gross earnings figure represents casino revenue only -
separate from hotel, restaurant or bar revenues generated by the
resorts.
